Job Description 

The Investment Team seeks an individual to join as a Senior Research Analyst focused on Securitized products. The candidate will have responsibilities of dedicated sector coverage as well as in leading and mentoring a group of research analysts to help us expand our investment opportunity set. The ideal candidate will come with investment experience and a proven ability of detailed research analysis across one or more of the Securitized asset classes within ABS, CMBS and RMBS. The Senior Research Analyst will work closely with the full Securitized Team including traders and portfolio managers and embrace IR+M’s research process founded on bottom-up security selection.

Summary of essential job functions

·       Initiate and propose new Securitized investment ideas in collaboration with Senior Research Analysts and the Director of Securitized while embracing IR+M’s investment philosophy and process 

·       Provide dedicated sector research leadership and coverage within a subset of Securitized markets

·       Incorporate a rigorous qualitative and quantitative approach to idea generation, research and surveillance in shaping sector strategy

·       Display a deep understanding of sector specific attributes across collateral, structure and performance drivers

·       The ability to deliver impactful, well-constructed trade recommendations

·       Work closely with Securitized Research Analysts to vet and shape both our sector-level and bond-level recommendations in the effort to maintain an alpha-driving pipeline of investment ideas for our clients’ portfolios

·       Design and build cashflow scenarios using Bloomberg and other third-party, cashflow modeling software and/or proprietary excel spreadsheets

·       Maintain, create and publish content for IR+M’s Research Management System (RMS) to ensure our research library is complete and up to date

Key Competencies

·       10+yr years of financial industry experience with 5-7+ years in a securitized research capacity

·       Strong presentation skills for both internal and external audiences

·       Flexibility to juggle multiple priorities and projects for different end users

·       Ability to work and communicate with other areas of the Firm

·       Critical thinker and proactive problem solver

·       Strong communication skills both written and verbal

·       Enjoys working collaboratively

·       Self-starter – ability to be productive and suggest logical solutions

·       Strong organization skills and attention to detail

·       Leadership / management experience a plus

·       Intex, YieldBook, Trepp, Bloomberg and/or SQL skills a plus

Education Requirement

·       Bachelor’s degree required

·       CFA or significant progress towards attaining 

Base Salary Range

·       $165,000 - $235,000

Annual Performance Bonus

·       This role is eligible for an annual performance-based bonus.
